KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd (Samsung) and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) have partnered to introduce QR payment functionality through Samsung Wallet, enabling eligible Samsung Galaxy users to make QR payments directly from the digital wallet.

In a statement, the companies said the feature, available from July 21 through the latest Samsung Wallet update, integrates Maybank's MAE Scan & Pay service into the digital wallet.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics president Charles Kim said the partnership expands the Samsung Wallet ecosystem in Malaysia by bringing QR payments directly into the digital wallet.

"Our partnership with Maybank represents a significant step forward in expanding the Samsung Wallet ecosystem in Malaysia.

“By bringing QR payments directly into Samsung Wallet, we're making everyday transactions even more effortless, allowing users to simply swipe, scan and pay within seconds,” he added.

Users will be able to make DuitNow QR payments in Malaysia as well as cross-border QR payments at participating merchants in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia.

Maybank group chief digital officer Kalyani Nair said integrating the bank's MAE Scan & Pay service into Samsung Wallet is aimed at providing customers with greater convenience while maintaining security.

"By integrating Maybank's MAE Scan & Pay functionality directly into Samsung Wallet, we are bringing greater convenience to customers while maintaining the security and reliability they expect from Maybank."

Samsung said the integration is the first QR payment service available through Samsung Wallet in Malaysia.

The feature is available on eligible Samsung Galaxy smartphones with the latest Samsung Wallet and software update.

Separately, Samsung and Maybank will run a promotional campaign from July 28 to Oct 30, 2026, offering rewards worth up to RM500,000.

Eligible users who activate the QR payment feature will receive RM5, while those who make qualifying transactions can receive up to RM15 in cashback or vouchers.
