KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank Islamic Bhd has launched the Shariah-compliant Nadi Mastercard Credit Card-i, offering a fixed 14% profit rate, no annual fee and non-compounding charges to provide customers with a simpler financing option.

The bank, in a statement, said the card was designed to support everyday financial needs by offering greater transparency and affordability, amid growing demand for financial products that are easy to understand and aligned with customers' values.

Maybank Islamic said the cardholders will also gain access to the group's wider card ecosystem, including exclusive benefits and more than 1,000 merchant privileges across the region.

Maybank president and group chief executive officer Datuk Seri Khairussaleh Ramli said the Nadi Mastercard Credit Card-i reflects the bank's focus on delivering simple, values-driven financial solutions that broaden responsible access to credit.

“Trust is the cornerstone of banking and earned through clarity and an unwavering focus on customers. Nadi Mastercard Credit Card-i reflects the purposeful innovation we seek to champion – simple, values-driven solutions built around what customers truly need.

“As the pulse of everyday financial lives, Nadi is designed to broaden responsible access to credit in a way that is accessible, affordable and meaningful. We remain committed to shaping a future of banking that delivers sustainable impact for the communities we serve,” he said.

Unlike conventional tiered profit rate structures that can reach up to 18% per annum, the new card carries a fixed 14% profit rate, providing customers with greater certainty over their payment obligations.

The card's name, "Nadi", which means "pulse" in Malay, reflects Maybank's role in supporting Malaysians' daily financial lives.

Group chief executive officer of Islamic Banking and chief executive officer of Maybank Islamic Mohamad Yasin Abdullah said the product aligns with the bank's Humanising Financial Services strategy by eliminating complexity and enabling customers to better manage their financing costs.

Applications for the Maybank Islamic Nadi Mastercard Credit Card-i will open in October 2026 via the MAE app, Maybank2u and Maybank branches nationwide.
