Harbour-Link acquires two container vessels for RM56.68mil

PETALING JAYA: Harbour-Link Group Bhd (HLG) is acquiring two 90-metre self-propelled container vessels from Sapor Shipbuilding Industries Sdn Bhd for RM56.68mil.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, HLG said the acquisition of vessels is in line with the expansion plans of the group to augment its marine fleet capacity, improve operational efficiency, and meet the growing demand for container transportation services in the region.

“The acquisition is not expected to have a material effect on the earnings of the HLG for the current financial year. However, the operational deployment of the vessels upon delivery is expected to contribute positively to the future earnings and earnings per share of the group.

“Except for general economic conditions, market fluctuations in shipping rates, operational risks, and industry risk factors commonly associated with marine transport and shipbuilding, the board does not foresee any material risks directly arising from the acquisition,” said the company.
