(PDB) has expanded its used cooking oil (UCO) collection initiative to 100 collection points nationwide.
PDB said the initiative is aimed at making it easier for the public to turn kitchen waste into an additional source of income while encouraging the proper disposal of used cooking oil through approved channels.
"The collected used cooking oil will be processed for further applications, including the production of alternative fuels," the company said in a statement today.
PDB chief operating officer Azureen Azita Abdullah said the response to the programme reflects growing public awareness of the importance of responsible waste management.
"As of March 2026, PDB's used cooking oil collection initiative has expanded to 100 stations nationwide, with more than 1.6 million kilogrammes of UCO collected.
"The initiative has also generated approximately RM4.8 million in returns for more than 560,000 participants. This demonstrates that small actions at home can have a significant impact not only on the environment, but also on society as a whole," she said.
Azureen said the collected used cooking oil has the potential to be converted into cleaner fuels for the aviation sector, including Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
"This shows that everyday waste can be given a new value as part of a more sustainable energy solution," she added. - Bernama
