EI Power bags RM90.1mil data centre contract in Johor

KUALA LUMPUR: EI Power Bhd's (EIP) wholly owned subsidiary, EI Power Technologies Sdn Bhd, has secured a RM90.1mil works subcontract agreement (WSA) for a data centre project in Johor.

In a statement, the power engineering solutions provider said the subcontract was awarded by a main contractor principally involved in engineering, construction and investment holding. However, the identity of the contractor was not disclosed due to confidentiality obligations under the agreement.

The scope covers the complete fuel system package for the data centre in Johor, encompassing supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning. Works commenced upon acceptance of the WSA, with completion scheduled in September 2027.

With the latest contract, EIP's unbilled order book stands at RM222.5mil, providing earnings visibility over the project's tenure.

Executive director and chief executive officer Albert Chang Wan Siong said the award affirmed the industry's recognition of EIP's expertise in mission-critical power engineering and highlighted the group's growth momentum following its recent listing.

“Data centres remain one of the most exciting and structurally supported growth segments in Malaysia. This contract is a clear reflection of the opportunities available to us, and we intend to build on this momentum to win further contracts in data centres, renewable energy, and other infrastructure segments that are shaping Malaysia's growth story,” he added.
