KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Air has taken delivery of the world’s first ATR 72-600 aircraft featuring ATR’s HighLine all-business class cabin configuration.
In a statement, ATR said the aircraft arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, marking Berjaya Air’s first ATR 72-600 aircraft and the first deployment of ATR’s new premium cabin concept.
The ATR HighLine cabin configuration received certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Malaysian authorities earlier this month.
The aircraft is fitted with 26 all-business class seats in a 1-by-1 layout, with direct aisle access and window views for all passengers.
It added that the cabin also features ETEREA seats by Geven and redesigned ceiling panels in place of overhead bins to create a more spacious cabin environment.
Berjaya Air said the aircraft will begin operations in the coming days, starting with a new route between Subang and Koh Samui.
The airline plans to expand services across Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, including routes serving Berjaya Group’s portfolio of hotels and resorts.
The aircraft in ATR HighLine All-Business Class configuration will also be available for charter operations across the Asia-Pacific region.
Berjaya Property Bhd group CEO Syed Ali Shahul Hameed said the aircraft delivery marked an important step in Berjaya Air’s transformation plans.
“This new cabin experience enables us to offer guests a seamless and refined journey to some of the region’s most sought-after destinations, while maintaining our strong commitment to operational efficiency and service excellence.
“Whether serving resort destinations or charter operations across the region, the ATR HighLine cabin allows us to deliver an end-to-end premium travel experience that reflects Berjaya’s hospitality heritage and long-term vision,” he added.
Meanwhile, ATR chief executive officer Nathalie Tarnaud Laude said the new cabin configuration demonstrated the flexibility of the ATR platform in serving different market requirements.
Berjaya Air is expected to receive a second ATR 72-600 aircraft in the same all-business class configuration in the third quarter of this year.
