Mitrajaya Trading emerges as substantial shareholder in Mitrajaya


KUALA LUMPUR: Mitrajaya Holdings Bhd said Mitrajaya Trading Sdn Bhd (MTSB) has emerged as a new substantial shareholder following the acquisition of a 38.67% stake in the group.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Mitrajaya said MTSB acquired 281.65 million ordinary shares from executive chairman Tan Eng Piow on April 29.

MTSB is a private limited company incorporated in Malaysia in 1990 and is wholly owned by Tan. Its board comprises Tan and his daughter, Tan Mei Yin.

The company is principally involved in the trading of construction materials and the rental of premises.

MTSB has obtained an exemption from the Securities Commission from undertaking a mandatory general offer for Mitrajaya upon completion of the share transfer. The exemption also applies to persons acting in concert with MTSB.
