PETALING JAYA: Zetrix AI Bhd has announced its role as a key founding member of the newly launched World Data Organisation (WDO), an international body that functions as a platform for data cooperation and sharing digital development opportunities.

According to a statement issued by Zetrix AI, the Beijing-based organisation is composed of a diverse membership that includes enterprises from across multiple industries, universities, think tanks, international organisations and financial institutions, and other entities from the global data sector.

Zetrix AI, as a founding member, is a member of the inaugural council and the lead representative for Asean.

“Data is the new factor of production in a world where AI (artificial intelligence) is omnipresent.

“Every entity holds valuable data and WDO plays a pivotal role in enabling this value to be unlocked, thus creating a new source of wealth.

“AI agents built on such comprehensive datasets can execute their tasks more accurately and efficiently,” explained TS Wong, group managing director of Zetrix AI.

WDO held its inaugural assembly yesterday with the theme of jointly building a data cooperation platform and sharing digital development opportunities.

It seeks to address inconsistencies in data policies across countries while promoting industry consensus, standard recommendations and best practices to support governments and research institutions.

The initiative also aims to help multinational companies reduce compliance costs when operating across different regulatory environments.

Another key focus of the organisation is deploying data applications in real-world sectors such as healthcare, education and energy to support industrial innovation and project implementation.

Moreover, it plans to strengthen talent development – particularly in developing regions – to help bridge the global digital divide.

Chinese President Xi Jinping marked the launch with a congratulatory message that highlights the increasingly evident role of data as a fundamental resource and an innovation engine in the intelligent age.

He also recognised WDO as a valuable platform for deepening international cooperation regarding data and improving global data governance.

To express the country’s support of WDO, Xi said China will work with all parties to forge consensus on data governance rules, promote innovation in digital and intelligent technologies, facilitate the secure and efficient development of data, serve the healthy development of the global digital economy, and ensure that data dividends better benefit people of all countries.
