PETALING JAYA: Cable and wire manufacturer Southern Cable Group Bhd has secured an additional RM121.1mil worth of orders for its existing contract from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for the supply of underground power cables and conductors.

In a statement, the company said the addition follows TNB's decision to increase its orders within the existing contract awarded to Southern Cable in February 2025.

“The increase raises the total contract value with TNB to RM524.6mil, up from the original RM403.6mil.

“The contract is being fulfilled by the Group’s subsidiary, Southern Cable Sdn Bhd, for TNB’s distribution network division.

Following the award, the group’s total orders in hand stood RM1.16bil, providing earnings visibility until 2027, at the same time, reflecting sustained demand for critical power infrastructure as Malaysia accelerates national grid modernisation alongside the National Energy Transition Roadmap.

Southern Cable managing director Tung Eng Hai said the variation order reflects TNB’s continued confidence in the company’s ability to deliver the cables critical to the national power grid.

“We are seeing robust demand as Malaysia accelerates its energy transition and infrastructure upgrades.”
