DPS Resources unit partners VCI Energy on solar PV project in Melaka

KUALA LUMPUR: DPS Resources Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary DPS Energy Sdn Bhd has inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with VCI Energy Sdn Bhd to develop a utility-scale solar photovoltaic project with a planned capacity of up to 20MW.

VCI Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of VCI Global Limited, is principally involved in clean energy generation, energy storage, and large-scale infrastructure solutions.

In a statement, the group said the initiative represents one of the largest single-site solar projects currently under consideration in Malaysia.

The proposed project will utilise about 600 acres of lands in Lipat Kajang, Bukit Apit II, and Mukim Sungai Siput in Melaka.

The proposed lease tenure will be 23 years, continent upon the execution of definitive agreements and regulatory approvals.

"This project is expected to significantly enhance DPS Resources's position in the renewable energy sector while generating substantial recurring revenue streams.

"The partnership aligns with DPS Resources' strategic goals of promoting sustainable energy solutions and supporting Malaysia's energy transition," it said.
