KUALA LUMPUR: Genting Malaysia Bhd has officially announced its wholly-owned subsidiary Genting New York LLC had been awarded a commercial casino licence by the New York State Gaming Commission on Dec 15, 2025.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, it said Resorts World New York City is expected to open the first phase of the integrated resort by the second quarter of 2026.

It was reported this morning that all three downstate New York casino applications - which included Genting's at the Aqueduct Racetrack in the Queens borough-  have received approval for their projects.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said in a press statement the three approved casinos are expected to generate billions of dollars for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and education as well as create thousands of jobs and benefits to their surrounding communities.

"Each of the projects made significant commitments to their communities and to New York State, and the Gaming Commission was clear that they will hold these projects accountable and make sure they keep their promises," she said.

Prior to the midday break, shares in Genting Bhd were unchanged from the reference price at RM3.02 apiece, while Genting Malaysia's stock was traded three sen higher at RM2.07 a share.
