IPOH: Upscale supermarket brand Cold Storage has returned to Perak with the official opening of its new outlet at Sentra Mall Ipoh, marking a renewed commitment to strengthening its presence within local communities.

GCH Retail (M) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Cheah Yong Hock said the establishment of the store serves not only as an expansion effort but also as a strategic foundation for the brand’s future growth across the state.

He said the brand’s future growth also reflects its confidence in the continued vibrancy of Ipoh and the broader Perak market.

“This store represents a significant milestone and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Cold Storage in Perak,” he said during the opening of the outlet, yesterday.

Cheah said Cold Storage Sentra Mall Ipoh offers an elevated grocery experience featuring fresh, premium-quality local and imported products, thoughtfully curated sections to meet high customer expectations and a modern store environment designed for an enjoyable shopping experience.

“Our team has meticulously curated every section of this store to ensure our customers enjoy the best possible shopping experience,” he said.

Meanwhile, GCH Retail head of marketing Andre Lim Jyh Shen said that he remains optimistic about Cold Storage’s positive business momentum and its energised workforce.

Lim said that by focusing on operational fundamentals, such as getting the product quality and location mix right, customers will return to Cold Storage after its reopening in Ipoh.

“We are definitely on an upward trajectory. Every store opening gives us more opportunity to learn, to become even better, bigger and grander,” he said.

Lim said that as the retail landscape faces pressure from digital competitors and rising costs, Cold Storage’s strategy is clear – a return to physical, community-focused premium retail that honours its history while aggressively courting the modern shopper.

Cold Storage is one of the leading premium grocery retailers in Malaysia, known for its wide range of imported products and fresh produce.

Its owner, GCH Retail, also operates the Giant and Mercato supermarkets. — Bernama
