KUALA LUMPUR: The government has allocated RM6bil under Budget 2026 for Yayasan Peneraju (YP), UiTM and MARA to strengthen Bumiputera education opportunities.

The allocation will enable YP to train 12,000 Bumiputera talents in 2026, marking the largest annual intake in the agency’s history.

In a statement, YP said 2026 is expected to mark a historic milestone, as the number of newly registered Bumiputera Chartered Accountants with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) is projected to surpass their non-Bumiputera counterparts for the first time.

“As the agency entrusted with the mandate to identify, nurture and grow Bumiputera talent, we are fully committed to supporting the aspirations of Budget 2026. Budget 2026 gives us the momentum to take Bumiputera talent to the next level.

“Our clear goal is to produce 2,000 Chartered Accountants and 10,000 technology talents in 2026, equipped with skills in cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Collectively, these efforts will uplift the Bumiputera community and strengthen Malaysia’s position as a globally competitive economy,” chief executive officer Ibrahim Sani said.

The agency’s accounting pathway allows participants to qualify as chartered accountants as early as 21 through programmes such as ICAEW and ACCA. Its technology courses offer over 90 certifications, including Ethical Hacking, Cybersecurity, Enterprise AI, Data Practitioner, and ArchiMate® EA Foundation & Practitioner.

Since its establishment in 2012, YP has developed more than 80,000 Bumiputera talents, including accountants, innovators in technology, medical specialists and skilled professionals across diverse sectors
