MITI calls on stakeholders to actively join efforts to realise National Automotive Policy

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

KUALA LUMPUR: Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz has urged all stakeholders in the country’s automotive sector, especially industry players, to actively participate in realising the envisioned automotive policies.

Tengku Zafrul said their contributions are very important, and cooperation between the government and industry players is key to the success of the Council of Automotive Eminent Persons (CAEP).

"The third CAEP meeting discussed the vision, challenges, and proposals for the future. This effort is critical to ensuring we maintain the industry’s competitiveness, fiscal and trade position, and most importantly, the ability to achieve climate goals.

"With the competitive ASEAN market and focus on electric vehicles (EV), we need to act immediately to seize opportunities in green mobility,” he said in a post on the X platform today.

He also emphasised that Malaysia must ensure its position as a regional leader in high-technology automotive manufacturing.

The CAEP is a high-level advisory body established in June 2025 by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) to provide strategic recommendations for the future of the country’s automotive sector, particularly in the context of the mid-term review of the National Automotive Policy 2020 (NAP 2020). - Bernama
