Cheang & Ariff joins regional law network WPG

WongPartnership chairman and senior partner Ng Wai King said Cheang & Ariff’s entry into WPG strengthens the network’s capabilities across Asia and the Middle East.

PETALING JAYA: Prominent Malaysian law firm Cheang & Ariff has joined the regional law network WPG as a member firm. WPG was established in 2017 by WongPartnership LLP, one of Singapore’s largest law firms.

The law network spans key markets including Abu Dhabi, China, Dubai, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Cheang & Ariff joins Foong & Partners –an existing member of WPG – to form the Malaysian network alliance of WPG.

In an earlier statement, WongPartnership chairman and senior partner Ng Wai King said Cheang & Ariff’s entry into WPG strengthens the network’s capabilities across Asia and the Middle East.

“With its expertise on board, we are better placed to provide our clients with greater local insight and more seamless cross-border advice.”

Cheang & Ariff is known for its focus on dispute resolution, and its corporate, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property practices, according to WongPartnership.

It also noted that emerging sectors in Malaysia such as eCommerce, renewable energy and digital services are driving new areas of growth and deepening ties with regional markets.

Bilateral ties between Malaysia and Singapore have advanced through recent high-level engagements and initiatives like the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, which is projected to significantly benefit Singapore in areas such as cross-border investment, sustainable technologies and digital collaboration.

“Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to align regulations with global standards, enhance logistics capabilities, and grow high-value manufacturing further reinforce the potential for deeper economic cooperation regionally.

“As Malaysia’s economic influence within the Asean region grows, WongPartnership and our Malaysian member firms in WPG are well placed to support our clients.”
