PETALING JAYA: WCT Holdings Bhd
’s net profit fell 4% to RM14.7mil in the second quarter ended June 30, 2026 (2Q26) from RM15.3mil a year earlier, amid lower contributions from its engineering and construction and property development divisions.
Revenue for the quarter slipped 33% to RM370.3mil from RM552.8mil in the corresponding quarter last year, while earnings per share eased to 0.94 sen versus 0.98 sen a year prior.
In the first six months of financial year 2026, WCT recorded a net profit of RM19.3mil, down 29.4% from RM27.3mil in the same period last year, while revenue fell 20.4% to RM815.6mil from RM1.02bil previously. WCT said the weaker quarterly revenue was mainly due to lower contributions from its engineering and construction and property development divisions, which declined by RM115mil and RM55mil, respectively.
“Despite a softer earnings contribution during the quarter, the engineering and construction division remained resilient, strengthening its order book by securing three international contracts in Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates, with a combined value of approximately RM1.72bil,” said group managing director Datuk Lee Tuck Fook.
The contracts comprise the National Highway No 1 Addition of Gangshan Second Interchange Project in Taiwan and two residential developments on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
“The contract wins reflect our continued efforts to expand our international footprint and reinforce the division’s project pipeline for sustainable growth,” Lee said.
He said WCT remained cautiously optimistic about its growth prospects as it entered the second half of the year.
The group will continue to optimise resources, improve collaboration across its businesses and pursue market opportunities, while maintaining a prudent approach to growth.
