Fire incident at PT Resources' China unit

KUALA LUMPUR: PT Resources Holdings Bhd has reported a fire incident at the coconut processing facility of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Fujian HJS International Holdings Co Ltd, in Fuqing City, Fujian Province, China.

It said in a bourse filing the fire did not result in any casualty or injury to any of the company's staff.

"As the Fire Department’s investigations into the cause of the fire are on-going, Fujian HJS is unable to assess if there is any damage to its processing facility and to determine the financial and operational impact due to the fire incident.

"To mitigate the operational impact, Fujian HJS is outsourcing the coconut processing operations to a manufacturer in the vicinity," it added.

PT Resources said it would make further announcements on the actual losses incurred by Fujian HJS upon completion of the investigations and assessment by the authorities and the company.
