CIMB announces resignation of Singapore CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has announced that Victor Lee Meng Teck, CEO of growth markets and CEO of CIMB Singapore, will be stepping down to pursue other opportunities.

In a statement, the group said Lee has been placed on gardening leave with immediate effect.

In the interim, Novan Amirudin, CEO of CIMB Group, will oversee growth markets as acting CEO, while Andrew Boey, chief financial officer of CIMB Singapore, will step in as the officer-in-charge of CIMB Singapore to assume day-to-day leadership responsibilities.

CIMB said it has activated its succession plan and will be announcing the successors in due course.

"Victor has been instrumental in transforming and institutionalising CIMB Singapore for continued sustainable success, driven by CIMB Group’s EPICC culture.

"As we look to the future, we are confident in the strength and depth of our bench strength, comprised of experienced and highly capable leaders, well prepared to carry forward our strategic priorities under our Forward30 plan.

"The group extends its sincere appreciation to Victor for his contributions and wishes him continued success in his future endeavours,” said Novan.

Lee started his career with CIMB Group in January 2019 when he was appointed CEO, group commercial and transaction banking, before helming CIMB Singapore in January 2020.
