Datuk Idham Nawawi to step down as CEO of CelcomDigi

Datuk Idham Nawawi

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Idham Nawawi will be ending his tenure as CEO of CelcomDigi Bhd following the completion of his term on Aug 31, 2025, the company said in a statement today.

CelcomDigi announced that Idham, who has helmed the telco for three years following the merger of Celcom and Digi, will be concluding his service due to "personal reasons".

He will take on the role of advisor to the board until Nov 30, 2025, where he will lend his support to the leadership team.

Deputy CEO Albern Murty will assume the role of acting CEO from Sept 1, 2025, in addition to his responsibilities as deputy CEO. Albern was, prior to the Celcom-Digi merger, the CEO of Digi.Com Bhd.

Idham joined Celcom Axiata Bhd, now known as Celcom Bhd, on Sept 1, 2018.

According to CelcomDigi, he successfully led the company's transformation and was instrumental in driving the Celcom and Digi merger.

“It has been an honour to lead CelcomDigi as the founding CEO, including the historic merger of Celcom and Digi—creating the largest telecommunications company in Malaysia and commemorating a landmark moment in our corporate history.

"I firmly believe that CelcomDigi is now on a strong footing to propel further as a market leader,” said Idham in the statement.

CelcomDigi said it will commence a formal search process for the next CEO, with both internal and external candidates in consideration.
