WTE ambition takes root

MALAYSIA is edging closer to realising large-scale waste-to-energy (WTE) plants, with several key developments paving the way. Last year, government officials unveiled an ambitious plan to build 18 such facilities across Peninsular Malaysia.

Recently, Cypark Resources Bhd, a public-listed company, achieved a milestone for finally having the country’s first operational WTE plant in Negri Sembilan. The facility processes 1,000 tonnes of municipal waste daily, converting it into energy that is sold to the national grid.
