PETALING JAYA: Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd has clinched a RM550mil contract from the Sarawak state government to construct the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching II, in Kuching, Sarawak.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the group said it was awarded the letter of acceptance via its 51% owned-subsidiary, CMS Land Sdn Bhd.

The contract entails the design and construction of the entire Borneo Convention Centre Kuching II, and encompasses the foundation, substructure, super-structure, building works, mechanical and electrical services, fit-out works, as well as testing and commissioning.

The project is slated to commence in April 2025 and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2028. The contract is expected to be signed in the second quarter of 2025.

The project is expected to contribute positively towards the group’s earnings and net assets for the financial years ending Dec 31, 2025 to Dec 31, 2028.

“The foreseeable headwinds for the project are likely to be supply chain-related due to global trade uncertainties.

“The company is however, well positioned to address such issues due to the synergies provided for by its key subsidiaries such as Cahya Mata Cement, its concrete business and lastly its construction materials and trading arm.”
