Pipeline explosion affects Gas M’sia supply

PetGas said is fully committed to ensure its commitment under the Gas Transportation Agreement to Gas Malaysia.

PETALING JAYA: The Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion has affected about 7% of Gas Malaysia Bhd’s total gas volume to be supplied to its customers.

The pipeline is owned by Petronas Gas Bhd (PetGas), while Gas Malaysia – linked to tycoon Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary – is the gas shipper.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, PetGas said the fire incident had affected its pipeline services within the Central Zone, including Shah Alam, Klang, Puchong and Batu Tiga.

“In order to mitigate these operational issues and until full operations can be resumed, PetGas is working closely with the relevant authorities and the shipper to implement several mitigation measures to ensure security of supply and restoration of its pipeline services in the affected areas.

“PetGas, as the gas transporter, is fully committed to ensure its commitment under the Gas Transportation Agreement to the gas shipper,” it said.
