Salcon expands into healthcare and energy to boost growth

KUALA LUMPUR: Salcon Bhd has proposed to diversify its core business by expanding into the healthcare and energy sectors.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Salcon said the company aimed to include healthcare, wellness, and related activities as part of its operations, alongside investments, development, construction, and operation of energy assets.

The group currently operates in engineering and construction, glove manufacturing, healthcare, trading and services, property development, and water concessions.

Salcon said its diversification into healthcare and energy had already contributed positively to the group’s financial performance in recent years.

“The continued growth of the healthcare business and energy business aligns with broader macro trends, enabling the group to expand its revenue stream to improve the financial performance of the group, contribute to the future growth of the group and enhance shareholders' value in the long run,” it said.

Additionally, Salcon said the healthcare and energy businesses were set up to support the group’s future performance. These diversifications align with the board’s efforts to expand and reduce reliance on its core businesses, engineering & construction and glove manufacturing.

“By diversifying the healthcare business and energy business, the group is able to broaden its revenue base, which can support future growth and strengthen long-term value for shareholders,” it added.
