Pekat bags two earthing and lightning protection jobs worth RM46.94mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Pekat Group Bhd has received two contracts worth a combined RM46.94mil for the supply and installation of earthing and lightning protection systems at data centre developments in Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

It said in a statement, the first contract, valued at RM19.73mil was for a hyperscale data centre in Port Dickson. It is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2027.

The second contract, valued at RM27.21mil, is for the installation of earthing and lightning protection systems at a data centre in Johor. The completion date is set on Sept 19, 2027.

According to Pekat, it has been actively expanding its presence in the data centre supply chain, leveraging its expertise in power protection and power generation to capture opportunities arising from the rapid growth of data centres in the region.

The group remains focused on securing further contracts within this space as demand for robust, reliable data centre infrastructure continues to rise.

"Earthing and lightning protection systems are critical safety infrastructure for data centres, given the high-value equipment and continuous uptime requirements involved.

"These contract wins reflect the trust our clients place in our technical expertise and track record of delivery, and they further strengthen our order book in the data centre segment," said Tai Yee Chee, Pekat group CEO.
