PETALING JAYA: Heitech Padu Bhd
has addressed concerns regarding its capability to successfully execute a project associated with a hydroelectric facility as it responded to a recent news article.
HeiTech had received a letter of acceptance with its Austrian partner, Voith Hydro GmbH & Co KG from TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd.
The contract entails engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC), as well as electrical, mechanical and associated civil works for the hydro life extension programme (LEP) at Sungai Perak.
Notably, HeiTech’s part of the contract is valued at RM902.96mil.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, HeiTech clarified that its venture into the energy sector has been established since 2015 since its acquisition of Duta Technic Sdn Bhd, a registered TNB contractor specialising in high-voltage power infrastructure.
“Since then, HeiTech has successfully secured projects totalling RM200mil, including 132 kilowatt High-Voltage Transmission Line projects and the construction of the Main Intake Substations among others,” it said.
As for its role, the group said it will provide specialised services needed to integrate Voith’s hydroelectric equipment with Malaysia’s energy grid.
“This will include the installation and upgrading of generator transformers and circuit breakers, maintaining water control systems and ensuring the interconnection facility works seamlessly,” it said.
The group said since 2023, it had begun to strategically position itself to take part in the LEP Sg Perak project as part of its broader vision to expand into the renewable energy sector.
“This initiative aligns with HeiTech’s aspiration to diversify beyond its core ICT business, leveraging its engineering expertise and proven capabilities in the energy sector.
“The project serves as a significant milestone in strengthening HeiTech’s presence in the hydropower industry, reinforcing its commitment to supporting Malaysia’s transition towards sustainable energy solutions,” it said.
According to the group, its strengths include a proven track record, local engineering expertise and a financial capability that is supported by structured financing arrangements.
