Salcon, TNB sign Perak solar energy pact

KUALA LUMPUR: Salcon Bhd announced that Mentari Kamuning Sdn Bhd (MKSB), a 70%-owned subsidiary of Energy Valley Sdn Bhd, which is wholly owned by the company, has signed a new enhanced dispatch agreement (NEDA) connection agreement with Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, Salcon said the agreement enables MKSB to operate as a generator company to design, construct, own, operate and maintain a solar energy generation facility with a capacity of seven megawatts (MW) in Sungai Siput, Kuala Kangsar, Perak.

“The facility will generate and supply energy to TNB under the Neda scheme,” the company said.

It added that under the Neda Guidelines issued by the Energy Commission, and subject to MKSB meeting the specified conditions, TNB will grant MKSB access to its distribution system for energy supply.

Salcon noted that the agreement will not have a material impact on the net assets or earnings of the group for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2025.

“Salcon expects positive earnings contributions from the facility, starting from its commercial operation date and continuing for 21 years,” it added. — Bernama
