PETALING JAYA: Bird’s nest processor Mymbn Bhd is actively collaborating with relevant regulatory bodies to address the issues leading to the temporary suspension of its bird’s nest exports to China.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the temporary suspension has caused a temporary disruption to its operations and affected the group’s supply chain and revenue streams tied to the China market, as exportation to China is one of its major markets.
“There are orders for approximately RM2.5mil to be exported to China which the company is unable to fulfil due to the temporary suspension.
“The company is unable to fully quantify the financial impact of the temporary suspension at this juncture as the situation in relation to the temporary suspension remains fluid.
“Regardless, the company is still incurring its monthly overhead cost of approximately RM92,000 notwithstanding the temporary suspension.”
MyMBN announced last week that it had received a notice from the Department of Veterinary Services in Malaysia regarding the temporary suspension of bird’s nest exports to China.
The suspension follows the reporting of Newcastle Disease Virus in Malaysia to the World Organisation for Animal Health.
MyMBN said the suspension applied to the whole industry for both raw-cleaned edible bird’s nest and raw-uncleaned edible bird’s nest products.
The group said it acknowledged the potential financial impact of the situation on its performance and was proactively implementing measures to mitigate any adverse effects.
In its statement yesterday, the company said efforts are underway to strengthen its presence in alternative markets to mitigate dependency on the China market during this period.
“Operational workflows are being optimised to manage inventory and production levels efficiently while maintaining product quality.
“Transparent communication with stakeholders, including suppliers and partners, is being prioritised to ensure alignment and sustained confidence,” the company said.
