UEM Sunrise announces resignation of CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: UEM Sunrise Bhd has announced the resignation of its CEO, Sufian Abdullah, as he has expressed his interest to pursue other opportunities.

In a statement, the property developer said Sufian gave notice of his resignation on Nov 29, 2024, and will continue in his role for the remainder of his notices period until Feb 28, 2025.

Sufian was appointed to the helm of UEM Sunrise on Feb 2, 2021, after serving as CEO of KWEST Sdn Bhd, the property development arm of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP).

The board of UEM Sunrise has named chief financial officer Hafizuddin Sulaiman as the officer in charge as part of the transition plan for a smooth handover of responsibilities.

The board has also formed an oversight committee comprised board members Christina Foo, Datuk Azmar Talib and Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin to assist the officer in charge in discharging his duties.

UEM Sunrise added that the board has commenced the formal process of identifying a candidate for the CEO position and an announcement will be made at the appropriate time.

“Under Sufian's leadership, UEM Sunrise saw strong recovery, expanded in Australia, and launched developments aligned with our strategic goals and recalibrated to meet our buyer preferences.

"His customer-centric and sustainable approach has driven our improved performance. We wish him the best in his future endeavours," said chairman Datuk Hisham Hamdan.
