KUALA LUMPUR: Tex Cycle Technology (M) Bhd’s subsidiary, Tex Evolusi Waste Management Sdn Bhd, has received Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval from the Department of Environment for Sabah’s first integrated off-site scheduled waste storage and recovery facility at Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP).

The RM100mil facility is scheduled to commence construction in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The waste management and recycling solutions provider said the approval is a crucial step for the commencement of operations for the facility.

It added that the EIA approval underlines the facility's compliance with stringent environmental standards, ensuring that all operations are conducted in a manner that prioritises sustainability and minimises environmental impact.

"With the EIA approval in place, we are now ready to move forward with the development of this state-of-the-art facility, which represents a significant investment in Sabah’s environmental and economic future.

“This facility is not just a project but a pivotal element of our commitment to protecting the environment and enhancing community well-being through responsible waste management practices,” group chief executive officer Gary Dass Anthony Francis said in a statement.
