MGRC partners KMI Healthcare to offer advanced genetic screening

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Genomics Resource Centre Bhd's (MGRC) wholly-owned subsidiary MGRC Healthcare Sdn Bhd has partnered Kumpulan Medic Iman Sdn Bhd, a healthcare group under TDM Bhd, to offer advanced genetic screening services.

According to MGRC, the genetic screening, branded as the “Origene All-in-One Report,” provides more than 200 genetic insights based on an individual’s unique genetic blueprint.

"This allows for the identification of potential health risks and supports personalised wellness management.

"MGRC will provide consultancy and technical support to ensure the successful implementation of the genetic screening tests," said MGRC executive director and chief operating officer Muhammad Badri Hussin in a statement.

Additionally, the service includes specialised non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), a prenatal screening that allows for the detection of certain genetic conditions in a fetus without the need for invasive procedures like

amniocentesis or chronic villus sampling (CVS).
