Eduspec appoints Kang Pang Kiang as deputy chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Eduspec Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Alex Kang Pang Kiang as executive deputy chairman effective April 15.

This follows the emergence of Kang as a substantial shareholder of Eduspec on April 8, after acquiring 24 million, or 5.1% in Eduspec.

Kang, 52, currently holds a total of 142.26 million shares or 12.1%, combining direct and indirect interests in the integrated educational technology solutions provider.

He started his career with professional services firm, Ernst & Young in 1996. He has vast experience in providing auditing, tax consultation and business advisory services to various clients including multinational corporations.

Prior to his appointment as group chief executive officer (CEO) of EG Industries Bhd (EG Group) in July 2014, Kang served in SMT Technologies Sdn Bhd and Pensonic Holdings Bhd as the finance director and group chief financial officer respectively.

He holds a double degree in Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science from University of Auckland, New Zealand. He is also a Chartered Accountant of Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) of Chartered Accountant Association, New Zealand.
