AROUND the start of every year, locals are faced with the familiar occurrence of back-to-back festive seasons, where the showstopping Christmas decorations adorning retail spaces across the country are swiftly traded in for equally extravagant Lunar New Year displays.
Seemingly overnight, snowy evergreens turn to auspicious lanterns, bow-wrapped presents become red packets, and refrains of jingle bells are replaced with cymbal and gong-laden numbers. And while the yearly transformation may appear seamless, those responsible for the creating and assembling the seasonal displays will attest to the tireless efforts and hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make them possible.
