Tomei units get pawnbroking, money lending license

KUALA LUMPUR: Tomei Consolidated Bhd’s subsidiaries have received conditional approvals from the Local Government Development Ministry (MLGD) for pawnbroker licence to operate as pawnbroker under the Pawnbrokers Act 1972 [Act 81].

The subsidiaries are Ambitious Dream Sdn Bhd, Glittering Dream Sdn Bhd, Joyous Dream Sdn Bhd, Memorable Dream Sdn Bhd and Mesmerizing Dream Sdn Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Tomei said the conditional approval will not have any material effect on the earnings per share and net assets per share of the company for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023.

Separately, Tomei said its wholly owned subsidiary, TXG Financial Solutions Sdn Bhd received an approval from MLGD to conduct the online money lending business within its money lending license issued by the MLGD.
