SunCon wins RM604.9mil RTS Link Project


KUALA LUMPUR: Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon) has secured a RM604.9mil contract from Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd.

The construction group, in a Bursa filing, said its wholly owned subsidiary Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB) signed the letter of acceptance from Malaysia Rapid Transit.

SunCon said the contract is for the proposed construction and completion of Package 1B advance works for station and viaducts and Package 5 terrestrial viaducts and ancillary structures for Project Rapid Transit System Link between Johor Bahru and Singapore (RTS Link Project).

The RTS Link Project is for a period of 26 months and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2025.

“The total new projects secured by SunCon Group this year including the RTS Link Project amounted to RM663mil,” it said.

The group expects the project to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2023 onwards.
