White paper details rise of China domestic consumption, textile industry


Footwear and clothing consumption market in China reached US$427bil in 2021, according to the 2022 China Fashion Industry White Paper.

SHANGHAI: China is the world’s largest footwear and clothing consumption market in 2021, accounting for 25% of the overall market, according to an industry report, pointing to an upgrade in the quality of the country’s fashion industry.

The 2022 China Fashion Industry White Paper, released by global market research firm McKinsey and Co during the spring-summer 2023 Shanghai Fashion Week in late September, said that the footwear and clothing consumption market in China reached US$427bil (RM1.96 trillion) in 2021.
