Country’s first Hyatt Place to open in 2023 in Bukit Jalil

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s first Hyatt Place will open its doors in Bukit Jalil in the first quarter of next year and will feature 250 rooms.

The four-star business hotel hopes to capitalise on its position as the first international hotel in Bukit Jalil.

“We are thrilled to top off the hotel building as it marks an important milestone in our goal of establishing the first Hyatt Place in Malaysia and the first international brand hotel in Bukit Jalil city.

“Despite the challenges of recent years, we have continued to progress towards the completion of the building as we have confidence in the tourism industry of Malaysia,” said Mygress Ceramiche Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Wira Vincent Lye in a statement last week.

Mygres Ceramiche is the company that will own the Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur Bukit Jalil.

Mygres Ceramiche, Malton Bhd and Siab Holdings Bhd announced the topping off of the building structure of the soon-to-be-completed Hyatt Place.

In line with the optimistic outlook for travel and tourism in Malaysia, all three companies continue to push ahead with the construction of the hotel building and aim to open the first international branded hotel in Bukit Jalil.

“The new hotel will be a welcome addition and will help establish Bukit Jalil as an exciting destination in Kuala Lumpur for business, tourism, shopping and sports while at the same time creating job opportunities for the economy,” said a joint statement by the three companies.

The hotel is optimally located in Bukit Jalil and connected to the Pavilion Bukit Jalil Mall, which is one of the largest shopping malls in Malaysia.

The hotel will also be easily connected via a network of highways and public rail transport.

“The hotel is also just a few minutes from the upcoming International Wellness City, The Asian Football Federation and the national sports hub for Malaysia.

“The hotel will be a great addition to the area as Bukit Jalil continues to grow and the hotel will be an ideal base for business and leisure travellers visiting the many corporate facilities, sports arenas, and shopping venues in the area,” said the statement.

A Starbucks Reserve outlet will also be established at the ground floor of the hotel and will represent a premium destination for lifestyle and dining within the Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur building, it added.

Hyatt Hotels Corp has Hyatt Place hotels in over 400 locations around the world. In the second quarter of 2022, the group started 28 new hotels or 5,510 rooms joined its system.

As of June 30, 2022, the company had a pipeline of executed management or franchise contracts for 550 hotels (113,000 rooms), inclusive of Apple Leisure Group’s pipeline contribution of 20 hotels or 7,000 rooms.
