Boustead Holdings appoints former Johor MB Mohamed Khaled as chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, the former Johor Mentri Besar, as new chairman of the company.

Boustead Holdings, in a statement today, said the appointment is effective from Friday, May 1.

Mohamed Khaled, 61, was Johor Mentri Besar from 2013 to 2018. Under his five-year leadership, the Johor saw a steady growth in its economy, with the state’s gross domestic product (GDP) standing at RM100bil.

The average GDP growth rate was recorded at 5.9%, which at the time surpassed Malaysia’s average GDP growth rate of 5.1%.

From 2013 to 2017, Johor was also the leading investment destination in the country with the entry of RM114.9bil worth of investments in the manufacturing sector alone.

As Mentri Besar, Mohamed Khaled also served as the chairman of Johor Corp Bhd, as well as board member of companies within the group and other state agencies.

"During his tenure at JCorp, the group successfully implemented several restructuring and turnaround exercises," Boustead Holdings said.
