Opcom unit gets RM11.16mil job


PETALING JAYA: Opcom Holdings Bhd’s subsidiary, Opcom Cables Sdn Bhd, has accepted a RM11.16mil letter of award for a “Rakan Unifi” contract from Telekom Malaysia Bhd.

The contract is for Unifi service installation and restoration for a period of 18 months commencing from July 2, 2018 to Dec 31, 2019.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Opcom said the award is expected to contribute positively towards Opcom Group’s earnings and net assets for the period of the award.

Opcom is involved in the manufacturing of fibre optic cables and cable-related products. It has been diversifying its business since five years ago and today, it is in engineering services, engineered plastic materials and thixotropic gels.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, is the single largest shareholder in the company with a 23.28% stake, while his brother Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir is chairman and executive director.
