Vehicle sales up 4.6% in November on sales promotions


In a statement yesterday, the association said sales volume in January was 19% or 10,154 units lower than December 2017.

KUALA LUMPUR: Car companies sold more vehicles in November as year-end festive sales promotions drew more buyers and volume rose to 49,184 units.

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) announced on Monday the number of vehicles sold in November comprised of 43,152 cars and the rest of 6,032 were commercial vehicles.

This was an increase of 4.6% or 2,143 units compared with October due to the year-end sales promotions, said the MAA. The sales volume was up 0.2% or 89 units from a year ago, it said.

The MAA was also optimistic about the outlook for December and sales were expected to be better than November.

Underpinning the sales growth were the continuation of aggressive promotional campaigns by car companies and the continuation of year-end festive sales promotions.
