Zecon inks MoU with Unimas to build hospital


KUALA LUMPUR: Zecon Bhd has inked an MoU with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak’s unit Unimas Holdings Sdn Bhd (UHSB) to undertake the Unimas health metropolis project.

It said on Wednesday the project involved building a 300-bed hospital, 90-bed nurses hostel, an annex academic block and a commercial block.

Zecon said the commercial block consisted of a nine storey hotel and service apartment, a 12 storey apartment, a 10 storey office tower and a three storey shophouses.

“Zecon has invited UHSB to take a stake in the equity in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) designated to undertake the commercial block of the project in consideration of UHSB providing land for the project,” it said.

It will manage all matters in the technical and price submissions, price negotiation, pursuing the appropriate authorities to issue the letter of intent and subsequently the letter of award to undertake the project, the design, construction and completion of the project.

The parties shall execute a management agreement to set up the roles of the parties and UHSB shall be accorded a 20% shareholdings in the SPV for the commercial block.
