KLCI closes Monday in the red


At 5pm, the KLCI closed down 8.34 points to 1,847.30. Turnover was 1.937 billion shares valued at RM1.753bil. There were 214 gainers, 636 decliners and 296 counters unchanged.

Reuters reported Asian stocks skidded to five-week lows on Monday, giving European markets a negative lead after a batch of weak data out of China raised the spectre of a sharp slowdown in the world's second-biggest economy.
