KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Mirabel Ting fired seven birdies for a three-under 69 third-round score to overtake Liyana Durisic as the best-performing Malaysian at the LPGA Maybank Championship 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) here today.

The 20-year-old Mirabel sank birdies at the third, fifth, sixth, seventh, 10th, 11th and 14th holes, but bogeys at the fourth, eighth, ninth and 15th holes left her tied for 43rd place with a three-day total of four-under 212.

The Sarawakian admitted that mistakes on the putting green prevented her from returning a better score.

"I was hitting the ball pretty well today, a little bit of work off the tee, but definitely seeing some improvement on my iron shots today.

"Some putts went in, a couple of three-putts. I would say today there's a lot of mistakes on putting, and that's about it," she said.

Looking ahead to the final round, Mirabel said she would stay patient and focus on improving her accuracy off the tee while maintaining her solid iron play.

"Definitely staying patient. I mean, I do see a couple of balls drop today. Just a couple of mistakes here and there to kind of just patch up.

"Hitting my irons a lot better, and just kind of like get to hit a couple more fairways and that will be great," she said.

Liyana, who carded a four-over 76 to tie for 61st place with a three-day total of par-216, admitted that she struggled with her game today.

"Rough day today. Started off, didn't do so well. I was making a few more mistakes than I was happy about, and some shots threw me off a little bit.

"But, other than that, I managed to get two birdies towards the last two holes on the front nine. Overall, I'm still pretty happy with how I finished, though not too happy with how I started,” said the 25-year-old Liyana.

As for the other Malaysian golfers, Natasha Oon ended the third round tied for 58th place after carding a two-under 70 for a one-under 215 total; Kelly Tan was joint 73rd with a four-over 220 following a two-over 74 today; and Genevieve Ling was placed 76th after returning a three-over 75 for a nine-over 225 total. -- BERNAMA
