MANILA: The Philippines, through the Department of National Defence (DND), will host the 20th Asean Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) and the 13th ADMM-Plus from Oct 28 to 29 in Cebu City, the Philippine News Agency (PNA) reported.

Themed "Navigating Our Future, Together”, the meetings form part of the country’s 2026 Asean Chairship and aim to strengthen defence cooperation among Asean member states and dialogue partners.

Philippine Defence Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr, as chair of the ADMM and ADMM-Plus 2026, will lead discussions with his counterparts on bilateral defence cooperation, advancing dialogues and other areas of mutual interest.

Meanwhile, the Philippines' Asean Chairship will prioritise regional peace and security, stronger partnerships and practical defence cooperation in support of a peaceful, secure and stable Indo-Pacific region.

Since 2006, the ADMM has served as Asean's highest defence consultative and cooperative mechanism, while the ADMM-Plus, launched in 2010, brings together Asean member states and eight Plus countries to expand regional defence dialogues. - Bernama-PNA
