KABUL: Afghan security forces dismantled four clandestine heroin-processing laboratories and arrested four suspected drug smugglers in western Herat province, a local police official said on Monday (Oct 26).

Acting on intelligence and a tip-off, counter-narcotics units carried out a targeted raid on the outskirts of Karukh district, destroying the facilities and seizing substantial quantities of precursor materials and illicit drugs used in heroin production, provincial police spokesman Sayed Massoud Hussaini said.

The suspected smugglers have been taken into custody and handed over to the judiciary, with their case files submitted for further legal proceedings, Hussaini added. - Xinhua
