HANOI (Xinhua): Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has instructed relevant sectors and localities to ensure that no electricity shortages occur under any circumstances during the 2027-2030 period, the local daily VnEconomy reported Friday.

The instruction was part of a directive issued on Thursday outlining urgent measures to ensure the national power supply during the period.

Under the directive, the prime minister tasked the Ministry of Industry and Trade with coordinating with sectors and localities to expand the use of rooftop solar power for self-consumption in households, administrative offices and business premises.

The government also encouraged the installation of battery energy storage systems to reduce peak demand and enhance local energy self-sufficiency, the report said. -- Xinhua
