BANGKOK (Bernama): Thailand’s exports are projected to surge by 17.8 per cent to US$400 billion in 2026, driven by strong global demand for electronics and artificial intelligence (AI)-related technologies, TV BRICS reported, citing Thai PBS.
Exports are expected to maintain their upward momentum in 2027, growing by a further 7.4 per cent to approximately US$430 billion.
"The country is also seeking to benefit from global investment in AI and data centres, with its infrastructure, regulatory framework, supply chains and workforce offering potential to support the development of data centre facilities in Southeast Asia,” the report said.
Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) is forecast to grow by 2.2 to 2.5 per cent in 2026, with growth potentially reaching 3 per cent in 2027.
The outlook will depend on the implementation of economic measures, efforts to strengthen investor confidence and the ability to attract foreign investment.
Meanwhile, Thailand expects to welcome between 31.5 million and 32 million international tourists in 2026, with tourism remaining another key contributor to economic growth.
Alongside tourism, exports and investment in emerging technologies are expected to support Thailand’s economic expansion in the coming years. -- BERNAMA
