Hong Kong police are searching for a woman after the body of her colleague was found on a chair outside a commercial building in Tsim Sha Tsui early on Thursday.
Officers also arrested a 28-year-old bar worker, charging him with unlawful burial of a body, operating a drug den and failing to produce proof of identity. He told police he had helped the woman, who also worked at the bar, move the body to a car park.
Police said they received a report at about 1.40am about an unconscious man sitting on a chair in a motorcycle parking area outside K11 Art Mall.
Paramedics pronounced the 49-year-old man dead at the scene, with the cause of death to be determined after an autopsy.
A source said the arrested employee initially claimed he was a passer-by. But further investigations showed that he had found the man inside a toilet cubicle at a bar upstairs on Carnarvon Road.
“He, together with the wanted woman, moved the deceased to the motorcycle parking area outside K11,” the source said.
Officers found about 50 grams of suspected crack cocaine, suspected drug paraphernalia and around HK$82,000 (US$10,455) in cash at the bar.
The woman was described as Chinese, in her thirties, about 1.6 metres (5 feet 3 inches) tall, with a slim build and long black hair. She was wearing a black T-shirt, black trousers and a white cap.
A forensic pathologist examined the body at the scene and observed early signs of rigor mortis, the stiffening of muscles that occurs after death. -- SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST
