Foreign tourist injured in bear attack in Japan’s Aomori Prefecture


AOMORI: A foreign tourist was attacked by a bear and suffered injuries, including a bite to his right arm, in Towada, Aomori Prefecture, on Saturday.

According to local authorities, the man in his 30s was attacked near an observation deck on the shores of the city’s Lake Towada at about 10:10 a.m. on Saturday.

The authorities said that the man was transported to a hospital by medical helicopter, and his injuries are not life-threatening.

The bear’s whereabouts are unknown, according to the authorities. They are urging tourists to exercise caution through public safety radio announcements and during their patrols. - Japan Today/ANN
