HANOI: The Vietnamese government has ordered relevant agencies and localities to step up measures to manage and monitor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), local daily Thanh Nien reported Tuesday (Aug 18).
The order followed an incident in which UAVs entered controlled airspace, disrupting flight operations at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in southern hub Ho Chi Minh City on Aug. 11.
The Ministry of National Defense was asked to review and require organisations and individuals with UAVs to declare their aircraft, to have all UAVs operating in the country digitally identified, electronically licensed and subject to real-time flight monitoring by 2030.
The ministry was also tasked with publicly announcing no-fly zones and restricted areas for UAVs so that organisations and individuals are aware of and comply with the regulations, said the report. - Xinhua
