BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN; No one can predict when an emergency might occur. Having basic knowledge of safety and fire prevention would enable members of the community to be better prepared to deal with unexpected situations, said Village Head of Kampong Lumapas ‘A’ and Chairman of the Village Consultative Council (MPK) of Kampong Lumapas ‘A’ Mohammad Asrin Bakar.

He emphasised the importance of acquiring knowledge and skills provided through the Lifesaver Course organised by the MPK of Kampong Lumapas ‘A’, in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Department on Monday (Aug 17).

“At the very least, with this basic knowledge, we will be better prepared and know what action to take if we are faced with a fire,” he said.

He also expressed hope that similar courses would continue to be organised in the future to further raise public awareness and preparedness in dealing with emergencies, while fostering a culture of safety among village residents.

Acting Assistant Station Officer of the Corporate Communications Division, Operations Branch D, Ashri Apong delivered a briefing on fire prevention measures and the appropriate actions to be taken in the event of a fire.

The course aimed to equip participants with basic knowledge and skills to respond to emergencies, particularly those involving fires. The course was also expected to benefit participants by enabling them to share the knowledge and skills they gained with their families and the wider local community. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
